This book “Treat Your Own Back”, provides heaps of easy to follow back pain exercises (mostly done standing up or on your stomach). This is a great and very popular book that has literally helped lots and lots of people relieve their back pain.

A lot of people call this their magical book, because the exercises in it are so good and effective. The book goes through lots of exercises that realign your spine, stretch you back and help your posture.

However this book isn’t the be all and end all of back exercises. Although it provides a lot of great exercises, one area it neglects a bit is strengthening exercises. Some people get back pain because their muscles are too weak to support their backs, and this book doesn’t really address this issue.

So go see a doctor, find out what is causing your back pain, and then see if this book is right for you.

For a person having work the demands most of the time sitting on chair, can become prey of back pain. It does not matter when you have your own home office or a commercial office. To deal with pain on your back, a good chair supports a lot. Back support of an office chair is very helpful to work for longer hours without feeling pain and pressure because the chair is properly cushioned to provide comfortable sitting.

Lots of tensions and pressures are involved in office work creating negative impact on health. Continuous sitting for long working hours on chair and pressure to meet the deadline makes us forget about our working in improper sitting posture. This improper posture for a long time leads to back pain. The reports estimate that about in 70 per cent of the cases the cause of this pain is improper sitting on the office chair.

If an ergonomically designed chair is used for office works, it will increase productivity. Compared to traditional office chairs, these chairs are more expensive but in long run these are profit yielding.

While buying chairs for office work that can eliminate back pain, many things should be kept in mind. The seat of the chair should be changeable so that if required you can alter it suiting to your own specific requirement. The back of the chair should properly support the spine and back of the user particularly in the lumber area, as it prevents pain and injury that could occur due to continuous sitting in the same posture for long hours. The seat of the chair should be large and comfortable enough. There should be arm rest on the chair so that you can hold up your arm while typing; this prevents shoulder and neck strain besides the chair being swivel.

One very important to be kept in mind that that just because you have an ergonomic office chair does not mean that rest of the things about your sitting will be taken care of by chair itself. You have to still take care of your good sitting position and sit on the chair keeping your feet flat on the floor so that strain or injury on the back is avoided. Today there are many office chairs available that are intended to work well for persons suffering from back pain, injury or strain.

So, you can choose a right type of chair for your office and avoid back pain. If you will be free from back trouble, you will definitely be in a position to give your hundred per cent for office productivity which ultimately result in profit to a business.

Back pain is one of the most common reasons that people go and see the doctor. Everyone will experience back pain at one time or another, and for a lot of people it becomes an ongoing problem that they need to see a physiotherapist for. So what type of physiotherapy will you need?

There are different types of physiotherapy to target lower back pain. Acupuncture now quite a popular way to help relieve back pain. Acupuncture works by you lying face down on what looks like a massage table, and the doctor inserts needles in your back. Although this sounds painful, it’s only a small tingling feeling, and can relieve pain for months.

Massage is also a good therapy for back pain. However make sure to go to someone who is well trained, otherwise they can injure you more than they can relieve pain.

Methods such as these are called passive therapies, because they are done to you rather than you taking action. Other good passive therapies are applying heat and using ice packs.

Non-passive therapies are usually better to help relieve lower back pain in the long term. Probably the best non-passive therapy a physiotherapist will suggest is back exercises. As long as you keep religiously doing these exercises you will strengthen you back and thus relieve and even get rid of your back pain altogether.

It is highly recommended that you get your back exercise routine designed and supervised by a physiotherapist. You can still do your exercises at home, but a physiotherapist is trained to know what exercises work best for your type of back pain, and can help you monitor what is working and what isn’t.

Most of the exercises done for lowr back pain help to stretch or strengthen the back muscles. These muscles help to protect the back and spine, thus reducing back pain.

One of these exercises is to lie down and move as if swimming. Another one is to lie down on your back and bring your knees to your chest, then down again. Also you should keep active by twisting from your hip from side to side, and taking some short walks.

Acupunture and massage are great ways to relieve lower back pain immediately. However if you want long term back pain relief you should really consider back exercises. The best idea is to combine passive therapies to get rid of your pain now, and do back exercises to keep the pain away in the future.

This movie is produced by SIRA (Sam and Rose Stein Institute for Research and Aging). It covers quite a bit opf medical terms but explains them in a really simple way so anyone can understand. This is good because you learn a lot about your back, and also if you do choose to go to the doctor you have a good idea what he is talking about.

This is some really awesome and informative material so get comfortable and start watching.

It is well known that massaging relieves back pain, by reducing muscle spasms and loosening the muscles so they aren’t as stiff. However going to a masseuse can get pretty expensive.

That is were this device comes in. This thing looks a little crazy, but it lets you give yourself a back massage.

This massage tool allows you to reach really difficult to reach muscles on your back, that are tight and need massaging. It comes with easy to follow instructions, that show you how to use the therapy knobs on the tool to target pressure points and relieve pain.

Using this you can access all the different points in your back, including the neck, shoulder blades, all along the spine and the lower back. While doing this you still remain in a neutral position which allows you to stay relaxed.

The only complaint I have is it’s shape. It’s a little bit big and oddly shaped, which makes it really difficult to take with me when I’m travelling.

This takes a bit of experimenting to get used to, and a bit of practice to get the best effect for you, but overall it is one of the best self massage inventions ever.

It’s quite a big claim this gel has, that it will relieve pain.

It’s made from a herbal extract and claims that penetrates deep and is a long lasting pain reliever.

But is it good for back pain? Well it sure cured the pain (mine is really due to sore muscles). I don’t know if it will work for spinal problems, but it’s worth a try. It does claim to help with painful joints, which is usually caused by bones rubbing on each other, so it might be good for spinal problems too.

Also keep in mind that the pain relief is only temporary. You can rub it on, and it will relieve you of pain for a few hours, but then it will become ineffective. This is great if your pain only lasts a few hours, but not really good for chronic back pain sufferers (though it can give you a few pain free hours to feel better).

Also you probably need to find someone to help you, or get creative, as rubbing your own back can be difficult (but there is also a if that is easier)

A large number of people are suffering from back pain all over the world. In the US more than 65 million people suffer every year from back pain. One of the most common reasons for people to seek medical advice is the back pain. The advancement in medical technology has today made available various options for treatment of back pain including back pain medicine. Broadly the medical treatments can be categorized under non-surgical treatment and surgical treatment.

Non-surgical or conservative treatment of back pain involves back pain medicine or drugs as recommended by the physician based on the patient’s medical condition, age etc. Today wide variety of medications is available to choose for treatment of back pain. Although many medicines are available without prescription, you must seek advice of a good doctor’s advice before taking any back pain medicine. These medicines not only give you relief from pain but also reduce inflammation and relax muscle tension. Back pain medicine includes Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs, for example Acetaminophen, Opioids, and muscle relaxants.

Aspirin and ibuprofen are some of the anti inflammatory medications that reduces swelling and inflammation and promote healing. Tylenol®, Anacin-3®, Phenaphen®, Valadol® brands are some of the analgesics that are used to treat acute or some forms of chronic pain. Morphine, codeine, meperidine (Demerol®), or oxycodone-release (Oxycontin®) are Opioids of addictive nature and are rarely prescribed and used drugs and only if pain is severe. Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril®), diazepam (Valium®), carisoprodol (Soma®), or methocarbamol (Robaxin®) are muscle relaxants and are often prescribed for severe pain. It is, however, suggested that no back pain medicine should be taken without seeking advice from a doctor or other medical profressional.

The other treatment available for back pain is surgical operation in serious medical condition. Before determining which medical treatment should be given to a patient suffering from back pain it is of paramount importance to diagnose properly. It may require a thorough physical and neurologic assessment to reveal the actual cause of the pain. In case of suspicion of infection, malignancy, fracture or other risk factor, routine laboratory tests are conducted including complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation and urinalysis. If the fracture or disc disease is suspected, plain radiographs (x-ray), CT scan or/and MRI studies are performed.

It may be kept in mind that spine surgery is seldom required for treatment of back pain. The indications where surgery could be required include, but not limited to, bowel and/or bladder dysfunction, spinal cord dysfunction, excruciating pain unrelieved by non operative measures (quite often leg pain is more than back pain) and prolonged pain and/or weakness.

So what is this device? Well basically you lie on is, and it uses your own body weight and the specially moulded rails to realign your vertebrae back into its natural position.

So does it work? In my experience it has. My back pain has been relieved and overall I feel a lot more fluid and mobile. From the reviews I’ve read it has worked for a lot of other people as well.

Is it Easy? Well that depends, it is actually quite easy to use. But if you have never gone to a chiropractor and had a back realignment before you might find it quite an odd feeling to use. If you have had a realignment done before, it’s a pretty similar feeling.

I’ve found that a visit to the chiropractor for an official alignment was still necessary, but a lot less often. Also I used to feel a lot of pain between visits but now I don’t.

Just make sure this product is right for you (see a doctor first). If you have back problems because fo your spine, this can help. But if the pain is due to muscles cramping in your back, this probably won’t do a thing.
